How is SEO important in digital marketing?

WHAT IS SEO?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process in which affects the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engines “natural” or un-paid (“organic”) search results. In simpler terms meaning how high you rank on a search engine. Which of course results in SEO is dominating the web. The better the SEO, the higher the rank will be, and the higher the traffic will be to the site. It is essentially free digital marketing!

WHY SEO?

If you were to post a photograph of your product on your website – Imagine your product is the best pen in the world, you would want your image to say that it’s the best pen in the world, wouldn’t you? Even though a human can see exactly what that product is, why it’s there and how important it is, a search engine cannot. How would you make that search engine understand your photograph of the best pen in the world? You basically need to provide what you could call “clues” that search engines use to understand content/photographs (ensuring your content has structure and isn’t just written for the SEO purposes).

Understanding both the capabilities and boundaries of search engines allows you to properly build, format and explain your web content in a way that search spiders can understand. Many websites remain invisible to search engines because of incorrect SEO and are missing out on great opportunities.

Nowadays it is practically unheard of for people to not have a smartphone, not having the latest tablet, and overall not being online. It is such a huge part of an individual’s daily routine, that the importance of how well websites are ranking is extremely high.

Therefore, appearing at the top of the search engine results page is naturally becoming more important to many companies. Searchers generally think that visibility is equal to relevance, so showing up on the first page of a search engine can help to create a strong brand image for your company. Search engines drive focused traffic, and searchers are seeing specific sites on the results page because they are all relevant to their search, so you want to ensure that you stand out amongst the competition.
